I love to buy and receive T-shirts. They're so comfortable, easy to wash, and fun to wear. You can either show where you've been (or in my case where my sister has been!) or proclaim your opinion on an issue (real environmentalists don't eat meat) or show which team you pull for (the Panthers and the Bears, but this season only the Bears!). The number of T-shirts sold in the world is staggering and the issue regarding the pesticides and herbicides used in cotton production has become more widely known. What you'll learn is that it's not just hard on the environment. It is devastating to the people growing it! It's not that we shouldn't buy any more T-shirts or other cotton clothes, but that we should buy things made from organic cotton, ideally fair-trade. I plan to always look for those options. They say organic cotton is becoming more widely available.
